He believes that no one ever really leaves the Zenâin clan, and he believes that he is no exception. They came like vultures to carrion after they learned of Megumi's method, sniffing Toji out of concealment like trained bloodhounds. And, truly, what could Toji offer the child that the Zenâins couldn't? Despite his tragic paternity, heâd be cherished beyond measure, worthy of the Zenâin name, and as much as Toji loved for him...he didnât know shit about kids. It still does not. Toji signed away his rights, handing Megumi over to the wolvesâbut at least Megumi was a cub, one of their own, but Toji was a monkey and an alien, undeserving of the blood in his veins. They pledged to look after him and to give Megumi a happy, fortunate life. Toji agreed; there was simply no other option. He scribbled his name in their shared blood, and Fushiguro became Zenâin, the young kid whose resemblance had been stolen away by the same people who had driven Toji out.
